Mozilla proudly releases a newer version of Firefox for Windows, Mac and Linux to make Web browsing experience significantly easy, secure and faster. This release includes Type Inference which boosts JavaScript performance and allow rich websites and Web apps with lots of pictures, videos, games and 3D graphics to load and run much faster. Type Inference is a feature of the SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine that integrates with the JaegerMonkey JIT compiler to provide analysis and help generate more efficient code. Firefox with Type Inference is up to 30% speedier on JavaScript benchmarks like Kraken and V8.

As per its release notes, the latest version of Firefox 9 has the following changes:

  • Added Type Inference, significantly improving JavaScript performance
  • Improved theme integration for Mac OS X Lion
  • Added two finger swipe navigation for Mac OS X Lion
  • Added support for querying Do Not Track status via JavaScript
  • Added support for font-stretch
  • Improved support for text-overflow
  • Improved standards support for HTML5, MathML, and CSS
  • Fixed several stability issues

Mozilla Firefox is the second most widely used browser, with over 25% usage share of web browsers worldwide. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine that implements most current web standards and available for most of platforms including Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
