In a recent Security Bulletin MS13-028, Microsoft has released cumulative security update for Internet Explorer as a part of its Patch Tuesday updates pack on April 09, 2013. This security update is rated critical for Internet Explorer 9 and 10 on Windows clients and and moderate on servers.

The release addresses the following vulnerabilities and fixes:

  • You cannot open a file by clicking Open on the Notification bar in Internet Explorer 9 or Internet Explorer 10
  • Tracking protection list does not update as expected in Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
  • Internet Explorer 10 cannot open a file from inside an application that uses the LaunchFileAsync method in Windows 8
  • Text loses pixel snapping under optical zoom in Internet Explorer 10 in windows 8
  • “msapplication-TileImage” meta tag is not recognized on a Start screen website tile when you use Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8
  • You are not prompted to save your password when you sign in to an email service on a website in Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
  • The background color of the TR element is not updated dynamically in Internet Explorer 10 in Standard Mode in Windows 8
  • Incorrect native code is generated in Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8
  • Internet Explorer 10 crashes when you use Outlook Web App 2013 in offline mode
  • Contents of an iFrame are not hidden when a Div’s display style is set to “none” in Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 7 and Windows 8
  • You cannot download a file from a website when FEATURE_MIME_HANDLING is disabled in Internet Explorer 9 or Internet Explorer 10
  • Internet Explorer 9 cannot display HKSCS PUA characters on a webpage that uses Big5 encoding in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

It is a major upgrade for both Internet Explorer 9 and Internet Explorer 10, and have been marked as v9.0.14 and v10.0.4 respectively  The update (KB2817183) is being pushed via Windows Update.     We are using Jquery Dialog to insert data into the database. after this specific update, When the Jquery dialog is going to close on submit the IE hanged and showing a message. “IE stopped working”

    I have confirmed by uninstall this specific update the issue is resolved.

    KB2675157 fails install on vista 64.
