We have already covered, How we can rebuild/flush or repair Icon Cache to fix visibility of icons in Windows. But prevention is always better than cure and we can prevent corruption of IconCache.db by increasing the Max Cached Icons size.

Each time an icon is cached for future reference, when it is accessed first time. The cached icons load faster than icons are referenced directly from Resource files. By default, the icon cache size is 500KB. If the limit is overridden, you may experience incorrect icons. You can increase the icon cache size, which helps to prevent icons from redrawing or that are corrupt.
How To:
1. Run Registry Editor and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

2. Now create or modify a String (REG_SZ) value called Max Cached Icons and set its value to 2000.

3. Close the Registry Editor and Restart your PC to take effect.
